We Are Proud To Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 - 1915
University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Fall 2018
From day one, the design team aimed the design of this show towards being contemporary and raw. As the scenic designer, I was drawn towards the concept of small concerts because they also aim to be contemporary while having minimal scenery. The sleek, polished look of the scenery for this production of Proud to Present succeeded to frame and thus emphasize the chaotic action within the production.
Director, Calandra Hackney, wrote this note to me about my work after the production opened: “Your artistry and vision for the scenic design was there day one which helped me immensely in being able to navigate this script and frankly block the show. I am grateful for your dedication and process and look forward to seeing what you do in the future.”
